My family and I send condolences to the Lister family.
What a legacy Mr. Lister has left here with the students of G.W. Carver School of Garland, Texas. This was the only school that blacks/African Americans could attend in (GISD) from 1949-1966. Mr. Lister was a great educator at Carver in a segregated school. He was one of the first black/Aftican American educators after integration of GISD, where he became a more excellent educator and continued to soar on several GISD campuses. Even after his retirement, he continued to support our alumni projects and participate with us through the Carver Alumni Programs & Services, Inc. (CAPS) organization in our endeavors, including the naming and dedication of a new Carver Elementary School to replace the original one which closed in 1970. We honor his tenacity and salute him. He will be missed, but never forgotten. Well done, Mr. Lister!
