Vernell Marie Novosad Perkins' Obituary
PERKINS, VERNELL MARIE NOVOSAD age 59, of Garland, Texas, while surrounded by family and friends was called to her maker on September 21, 2012 after a long, difficult battle against liver disease. She was born June 24, 1953 in Houston, Texas, graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Texas, and attended Lee College and the University of Houston. Later in life, overcoming adversity, Vernell then strived to complete her certification in medical transcription from Lighthouse of Houston for the Blind. She was a loyal and dependable transcriptionist for 10 years at Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital, efficiently typing out medical reports even when her disease progressed. Vernell was a faithful member of Springcreek Community Church. She is preceded in death by her father, Edwin Novosad. Vernell is survived by her husband, Tom Perkins; son, Philip Perkins; daughter, Roxie Brown and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Megan and Bret Brown; mother, Lima Novosad; brother, Eugene Novosad and wife, Charlottle; brother, Steven Novosad and wife, Theresa; nieces, Teresa Lynn Novosad, Julie Belt and husband, Nick; nephew, Nathan Novosad; and numerous extended family members. Vernell was well liked and admired by family and friends. Even in death she continues to help others by donating her body for medical research. A memorial service will be held in Garland at Springcreek Community Church on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 2:00 PM. A second memorial service will be held in Baytown at Navarre Funeral Home on Friday, September 28, 2012. Family will be accepting friends at 5 PM, and the memorial service will begin at 6:00 PM.
