Vernon Theodore "Ted" Holton Jr.'s Obituary
Vernon Theodore “Ted” Holton, Jr, or “Papa Ted” to his beloved grandchildren, passed away on June 3, 2022. He was 91. Ted was born to his parents, Vernon Theodore and Arjen Jane Holton, in Longview, Texas on October 2, 1930.
Ted worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and retired after 30+years. While doing active military duty prior to the railroad, he continued military service through the Army Reserves and retired after 20 years as a Master Sergeant (E-8). He was a long-time member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Ted loved music and enjoyed making music with his friends for many years.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Holton; his brother, Bill Holton; his brothers-in-laws James Ramsey and Jerry Ray; and his grandson Doug Holton.
Ted is survived by his sisters Jane Ramsey, Nancy Ray, brother Jerry (Cindy) Holton and sister-in-law Kathleen Holton; sons John E. (Joyce) Holton, Paul D. (Onita) Holton and daughter Janet L. (Buddy) Ramsey grandchildren Jennifer (Noel) Glass, Ginger (David) Moore, Stephen (Amber) Holton, Joey (Tammy) Buchheit; Donnie (Ashley) Buchheit, Sonja (Ted) Renkiewicz; and many great-grandchildren.
Graveside Services are set for 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 11, 2022, in Colonial Garden at Restland Memorial Park. Chaplain Don Cecil will be the Officiant. Family will receive friends at Restland Funeral Home two hours prior to the graveside service, starting at 12noon.
Pallbearers are Stephen Holton, Joey Buchheit, Donnie Buchheit, Christian Glass, Jacob Moore, and David Moore.
