Vernon D. Patton's Obituary
Patton, Vernon D. ~ 82, of Kerrville, formerly a long time resident of Dallas, passed away January 2, 2012. He was born in Shamrock, Texas to James Patton and Leona Mae Peters on March 20, 1929. He served as president of Dial-A-Messenger/Dial-Air-Courier, the firm that he founded in 1969, until 1992, when he retired to Kerrville. He was a charter member of the Dallas Delivery Association and the Air Courier Conference of America and he served on the boards of both. Vernon was an army veteran of the Korean War. Vernon is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, James Patton, sister Oleta Patton Thompson and brother, Donald Payne. He is survived by his wife, Laura, sons Richard Patton, Karl Leslie, Wade Leslie and Holland Smith and daughter-in-law, Michaela Smith, sister, Opal Thompson, brother Kenneth Payne, granddaughter, Emma Belle Smith.
