Vi Avia Lanier-Childress' Obituary
Vi Avia Lanier-Childress was born on March 15, 1935, in Celeste, Texas, to Odes Aubrey Roach and Elizabeth Walden. On May 6, 2025, in Royse City, Texas, she peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior.
Vi Avia was a woman of remarkable grace, spirit, and style—a true Southern lady who radiated charm wherever she went. A social butterfly at heart, she was always on the move and never missed her weekly Thursday hair appointments, faithfully keeping the same time and stylist every week.
Her kindness extended beyond people to the animals she adored, particularly cats, and she often cared for strays in the countryside. She had an undeniable talent for gardening and an even greater passion for cooking and baking. Her chocolate pies and goulash became legendary among family and friends, a testament to the warmth and joy she shared through her creations.
Vi Avia leaves behind a legacy of love and deep connections. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Sandra Hickerson-Lanier; her granddaughter Amber and her husband Sean Callahan; and her great-granddaughters, Eden and Collins, who will miss her profoundly. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Kerrie, whose compassionate care provided Vi Avia with comfort and dignity in her final days.
