Speed, Vicky Lee's Obituary
Vicky Lee Johnson Speed
August 11, 1958 – March 28, 2025
Vicky Lee Johnson Speed passed away on March 28, 2025. Vicky was born on August 11, 1958, in Snyder, Texas, to Sidney and Sandra Johnson. She was the beloved granddaughter of Weldon and Ida Sue Johnson and Nina and Charles Cooper of Snyder. Vicky attended Snyder High School, where she was active in DECA and the American Junior Rodeo Association, earning honors as an All-Around Cowgirl and Barrel Racer. She later pursued higher education, graduating from Sam Houston State University in 1981, followed by a graduate paralegal degree from Texas State University. She began her early career with a law firm in Dallas, Texas.
Vicky met the love of her life, Bud Speed, and the two were married on June 21, 1986. The two of them built a life together filled with love and adventure. Bud preceded her in death on August 6, 2008, but his memory remained ever-present in her heart.
Vicky had a zest for life and a heart full of kindness. She loved to travel, read, solve crossword puzzles, and take daily walks with her cherished four-legged companions, Annabelle and Carly Sue. Her piercing blue eyes and boisterous laugh left a lasting impression on everyone she met. In her later years, she worked at the Fossick Showroom at Dallas Market, where she not only led her team with dedication but also built long-lasting friendships. She was always willing to listen and took a genuine interest in the lives of those around her.
Though Vicky had no children of her own, she was a devoted and loving aunt and grandmother, embracing her nieces and grandchildren with unwavering support and affection. She took immense pride in their accomplishments, always offering guidance and encouragement that made them feel truly cherished.
Vicky was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, her husband Bud, and her beloved dog Annabelle. She leaves behind a family and many dear friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. She is survived by her devoted significant other, Carl Erpillo, and family, along with her devoted caregiver, Sylvia. She is also survived by her brother, Clay Johnson, and his girlfriend, Carla; her nieces and their families, Sarah Johnson Greene (Charles) and Shelby Johnson Ginsburg (Perry). Additionally, she is survived by her stepdaughter, Vicky Speed Teddlie (Brian), along with their two sons, Benjamin and Stuart; her stepson, Bill Speed (Teri); and her cousin, James Wallace (Carol).
Vicky was a beautiful soul, and in her final moments, she found peace surrounded by those who loved her. Though she has left this world, she is now reunited with Bud, the love of her life, in eternal rest. Her kindness, warmth, and indomitable spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Please join us in celebrating her life on Saturday, April 5, 2025, for a visitation starting at 1 p.m. and the funeral service at 2pm at Restland Wildwood Chapel, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243.
