Victor Bychok's Obituary
BYCHOK, VICTOR 93, died Friday, April 26, 2013 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on March 11, 1920, the second child of five, in Claremont, New Hampshire to Russian immigrants Tatiana Pesarik and Michael Bychok. At an early age, Victor was taught to read and write the Russian language by his father using his Russian language Holy Bible and a primer for a text book. He continued to write his father in Russian until his father died in 1965. Following graduation in 1938 from Stevens High School in Claremont, Victor was awarded a New Hampshire State scholarship to the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado. He graduated in 1942 with the degree of Petroleum Engineer Production. After graduation, he began work on a geophysical seismic crew with Atlantic Refining Company. Victor worked 41 years for ARCO as a geophysicist until his retirement in 1985. During his career, he worked in many locations in Louisiana, Texas and the Gulf of Mexico followed by 14 years as lead geophysical supervisor in Canada; Havana, Cuba; Damascus, Syria; Cochabamba, Bolivia; Tripoli, Libya; Malta; Melbourne, Australia; and the North Sea in the United Kingdom with his office in London. After retirement, Victor volunteered 8 years at Grace Presbyterian Village, 10 years as a volunteer at Presbyterian Hospital working in the Emergency Room and the GI. Lab, 10 years with AARP doing income tax returns. He joined Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church with his wife and daughter in 1981 and was an elder, an active member of the Men’s Breakfast club at PHPC and served on the board at Springhill Retreat. Victor is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Clarlyn Hamilton Bychok, his daughter, Victoria Ann Bychok Seitz , her four children, David Victor, Katherine Ruth, Elizabeth Sara-Marie, and Timothy Edward Seitz. He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters, Eva Bychok, and Barbara Nichol; two brothers, John Bychok and Paul Bychok. A memorial service will be at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 4, 2013.
