Melrose Paris
I met Mr. Victor over 50 years ago when he and Miss Olo visited our home in Freetown to ask my mother to be one of their god parents for their wedding. My mother took an instant liking to him partly because they were name sakes and most importantly because she saw in him the good qualities that any mother would like the husband of their daughter to possess.
When I came to the U.S. in the mid-80s we kept in touch and would exchange frequent phone calls. We unfortunately lost contact after a while but thankfully reconnected again about 10 years ago and have kept in touch since.
He would call to check on me and my daughter regularly and we would have lively conversations and discussions about Sierra Leone and the United States. He always would show concern for us making sure that we are doing okay.
I would definitely miss the jokes and laughter we shared and will cherish those memories forever.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.
