Vincent Ross Vassallo Jr's Obituary
Vincent Ross Vassallo Junior was born on October 11, 1934 in Galveston, Texas. He was the oldest son of Vincent Ross Vassallo and Ann Marine Conn Vassallo. He passed away in his home on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 8:30 PM after a long battle with Louie body dementia, Parkinson’ Disease and Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy.
Vincent is survived by his wife Susan Guidry Vassallo of Dallas, Texas. His children, Ronald Vassallo, Lisa Bach and her husband Eric Bach, Karen Hall and her husband Derek Hall, Jonathan Vassallo, Stacy Perez and her husband Anthony Perez, Paul Vassallo, Julia Franks and her husband Matthew Franks, and Joseph Vassallo and his wife Krista Vassallo; 34 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. His brother, Richard Alfred Vassallo of Purdin, Tx, several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Vincent was preceded in death by his parents, his youngest brother David Vassallo, his son Daniel Alfred Vassallo and 3 grandsons, Nathan, Patrick and Luciano.
Vincent grew up on Galveston Island boating, fishing and spending time on the farm in Hitchcock Texas and Alta Loma, Texas.
He graduated from Ball High school in Galveston in 1952 and attended the University of Houston and later the Dallas Vocational school. Despite not having an extensive formal education he was highly intelligent. When he was a child his parents bought a complete Encyclopedia set and Webster's Dictionary and despite having Polio he read and studied every single book cover to cover.
His father was a Million-dollar Salesman from American National Insurance company and his Mother was a Registered Nurse. Their success and ambition paved the road for Vincent’s tenacity as a successful businessman. He owned a Nursing Home in Grand Prairie, worked at LTV and Metroplex care center. His passion for caring for people led him to a career as an LVN and an Orthopedic Physician’s Assistant until his retirement in 1988 when he chose to spend the first 11 years of his retirement caring for his elderly mother who had Alzheimer’s disease. His dedication to his mother’s care was exemplary of his kind, compassionate and loving demeanor.
Vincent was a devoted follower of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During his lifetime he held many church callings including, teacher, seminary teacher, Young men’s Sunday school counselor, Bishop of the Grand Prairie Ward and he held a position of the High Counsel both in Dallas and in Tennessee.
Vincent loved reading the Gospel and acquiring as much knowledge of the scriptures, books written by the prophets and about the prophets. He voraciously lived to exemplify the gospel and the love and kindness of our savior Jesus Christ.
