Vincent Paul Vigilante's Obituary
Vincent Paul Vigilante Jr.
9/28/1954 - 7/28/2023
Vincent, Vinnie, Vince, Vin, Vinny, Husband, Dad, Son, Brother, Uncle, and his favorite, Pa.
No matter what you knew him by, you knew him as someone who was funny, smart, nostalgic, generous, thoughtful, supportive, and kind.
Vincent was the first born to Mary (Corinne) and Vincent Sr. in Brooklyn, NY. Next came his brother Robert, and sister Mary (Helen).
Growing up in New York, Vinnie enjoyed reading, sports, school, movies, music, and cars that would hold such cherished memories for him that he passed these stories and interests down to his kids. He always stood up for his brother and took care of his sister by teaching her to ride a bike and always being someone, she could turn to when faced with fear and doubt.
After completing his undergraduate degree Vince moved to Dallas, TX, working in data processing where he would meet his future wife, Sharon. He later completed an MBA and finished his career as a VP of Operations in the Aerospace and Defense Sector. As a consultant, he amassed over 3 million miles of airline travel alone.
Dad always knew what to say at just the right time. You could go to him with any question or any problem, and he would have a solution or a joke to give you just what you needed. His go to advice was to have a Positive Mental Attitude, or PMA as it would be shortened to, no matter the situation. Dad was also our Mr. Safety. He provided first aid kits, travel carbon monoxide detectors, seat belt cutters, several high-grade flashlights, and even 2nd floor fire escape ladders.
The last 5 years were some of his favorites because he became Pa. Being able to take care of and thumb wrestle with his grandkids always made him smile.
Vinnie is survived by his wife of 43 years Sharon, his son Steven, his son Tony and his wife Kelsey, his daughter Nicole Harger and her husband Kyle, and his beloved grandchildren Adley and Colson Harger, and Callie and Jackson Vigilante.
A memorial service will be held at Restland Funeral Home on Sunday, August 27,2023 in Memorial Chapel at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
