Viola May Barber's Obituary
Born May 12, 1913, died on December 10, 2008. Vivian was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Grover, and an infant son and an infant daughter. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Frank & Mary Bacon plus 7 sisters and 6 brothers. She is survived by her sister, Lorene Tarrant of Campbell, TX; niece, Many Anderwald of Dallas, TX & nephew, Irvis Macy of Albuquerque, NM along with numerous other nieces and nephews. She was beloved by her nieces and nephews who all knew her as “Aunt Tom.” Vivan had lived in Dallas for 71 years. She and Grover owned and operated Barber’s Grocery in the Parkdale Community of Dallas for many years. She was a member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church and the order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Barber was an avid golfer having played her last game of golf at the age of 94. “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Phil. 1:21. Service will be held at 11AM Saturday December 13, 2008 at Restland Abbey Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Mike Fechner and Rev. Jimmy Tarrant. Interment to follow at Grovehill Memorial Park.
