Viola Dunwody's Obituary
Allie Viola Dunwody, born October 17, 1926, in Desert Texas, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2023, at home surrounded by love. Viola was born to Otis and Lucille Wilder as one of eleven children. She worked at Taylor publishing company as a master planner for yearbooks. She raised three wonderful children Nancy, Gary, and Mike. After retiring from Taylor, she became a teacher at her home church, teaching young children for over 20 years. Viola was a devout Christian who cherished her family and friends. Viola loved to travel, and her husband Drayton spent many vacations at Rockport, where their families visited often. One of the highlights of her life in later years, was girl trips with her daughter and daughter-in-law. She enjoyed experiencing sightseeing across Texas with friends and family. She lived for 96 wonderful years, watching her family grow, and lived to see five generations. Viola’s morning started with daily bible reading and ended with devotions and prayer. She was an exemplary Christian that inspired all those around her. Her family takes great joy in knowing that she is at peace in heaven with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, nine siblings, husband Drayton, and son Mike. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy McCurdy, son Gary Reed (wife Angie), and stepdaughter, Debara Herring. Grandchildren: Kathy McCurdy and Pam Miller, Jeffery Reed, Douglas, and Brian Herring, and Matt Spillane (wife Adrian). Great grandchildren: Kacey, Kaylee, and Brileigh Herring, and Landi Reed. And great-great-grandchildren: Isaiah and Maggie Spillane.
