Virginia Elizabeth Bowland's Obituary
Virginia Elizabeth Bowland was born on March 4,1917, in Dallas, Texas, the second child of nine sisters and brothers, to Vera Elizabeth Riley and Herbert Bowland. She joined her sisters Pauline, Marian, Mary Pearl, Frances, Betty, and Margaret, and brother Davis in God’s loving arms on August 22,2016. She is survived by her brother, John Bowland of Dallas and sister-in-law Wanda Bowland of Tyler, as well as three generations of nieces and nephews. Virginia participated in a century of change in America with an always curious and informed mind. She retired from a 35-year career with Sears Roebuck in the legal department in 1981. Her life moved always to the sound of music. An accomplished pianist, Virginia served as organist for many years in various local churches. Her most recent church home was Redeemer Bible Church where she is beloved by so many dear friends. Special thanks to her devoted caregivers of the last several months: Barbara Neal, Sonja Jimenez, Ernestine.Wiggins, Petra Tanner, Mary Finmore, and La Shunda Reed. Visitation will be from 5-7pm at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, Texas, on Thursday, August 25,2016. A graveside service will be 9:00 am on Friday, August 26,2016 at Restland Memorial Park, followed by a joyful and musical service at 10:30 am, Redeemer Bible Church, 721 Easton Rd., Dallas, Texas 75218 In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to benefit the music ministry of Redeemer Bible Church, P.O. Box 570545, Dallas, Texas 75357.
