Virginia Weir Brown's Obituary
BROWN, VIRGINIA WEIR in the early morning hours of March 10, 2014, Virginia Weir Brown died peacefully listening to the words of Psalms, with family by her side in Boise, ID. Virginia was born to Samuel and Ilma Beaver Weir on June 19, 1926 in Garland, TX. She was a granddaughter of one of the pioneer families of Garland and the daughter of a pharmacist, whose store was located on the original Garland Square. Virginia attended Garland schools and graduated from Garland High in 1943. She graduated from SMU where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. In 1947 she married Harold Brown while he was a pre-med student at SMU. They were married for 62 years until he preceded her in 2009. They returned to Garland in 1958 for his practice of medicine and lived there until his profession took them to Houston in 1975 and then retired in Boise, Idaho. She was active in the Pi Beta Phi Alumnae groups, a member of the Dallas County Medical Alliance, First United Methodist Church and DAR. Virginia was loved for her spirit of adventure, love of family and friends. She is survived by children, Randy Brown and wife, Donna of Ft. Worth, TX, Warren Brown of Houston, TX, Michael Brown of Richardson, TX, and Elizabeth Sackman and husband, Irvin of Boise, Idaho; 9 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. She is also survived by her sister, Hortense Weir Smith of Frisco, TX. A memorial service will be held at 3:00PM, Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174.
