Virginia Mayo Burton's Obituary
Virginia Mayo Armstrong Burton passed away peacefully October 27, 2023 after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgie Alice Hawkins and Joseph Woodfin Mayo. She was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, where she met her first husband, Benjamin F. Armstrong, Sr., who preceded her in death in 1980. She and Benjamin along with their family moved to Dallas, Texas in 1974. She married Claude Raymond Burton in 1984. He preceded her in death in 2004.
Mrs. Burton was an active member of the Colonel George Mason Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for many years. She loved music, travel, crafts and sewing. Later in life she took up the hobby of coloring which she enjoyed immensely. She combined her love of travel with her passion for genealogy research. She travelled extensively around the country with her second husband gathering family history material.
Mrs. Burton is survived by her son Benjamin F. Armstrong, Jr of Garland and his wife Carol and her daughter Sonia Armstrong Brown and her husband Jim of Dallas. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Benjamin F. Armstrong III and his wife Trina, and Amy Armstrong Peck along with four great grandsons and two great granddaughters.
In lieu of flowers, the Family asks that contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
