Virginia (Dinny) M. Kouba's Obituary
Virginia (Dinny) M. Kouba, 95, of Richardson, Texas, was welcomed into eternal life on July 24, 2022, with family by her side. Dinny was born on October 22, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from St. Gregory High School, she worked at Sexton Foods where she met the love of her life, William F. (Bill) Kouba. They married on May 19, 1951 and raised a family of 7 children in the Chicago area. In 1972, they moved the family to Richardson, Texas and became active members of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.
Dinny was a devoted wife and energetic mother who loved to spend time with family. Her welcoming home was a gathering place for family, friends, and strangers…the more the merrier. She had an endearing smile and showed kindness and compassion to everyone she met. Her faith was central to her life. She selflessly served others through hospital and nursing home ministry, was a greeter and Eucharistic Minister for the church and was a volunteer in the Women’s Guild. She loved dancing, bowling, travel, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and playing cards and board games with anyone who was up for the challenge.
She is survived by her children, Mary (Frank) Slama, Dorothy (Daniel) Marotta, Joseph (Melissa) Kouba, William (Mary) Kouba, Nancy (Galen) Hollis, Donna (Murray) Allen, and Robert (Tin-Tin) Kouba; sisters Frances (the late Vincent) Brand, Marguerite (the late William) Coe, and brother Michael (Violet) Allain. She will also be greatly missed by her surviving 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents Fred and Virginia (Angarola) Allain, her husband Bill, sister Rita Allain, brothers Joseph and Edward Allain, grandson Ronald Slama, and great-grandchildren Felicity and Dominic Kouba.
The family gives special thanks to the aides, nurses, caregivers, doctors, and other medical professionals and staff who provided Dinny with outstanding care. Collectively, they allowed her to continue to serve others and enjoy a long and fulfilling life.
A rosary will be prayed at Restland Memorial Chapel, Dallas, Texas on Sunday, August 7th at 6:00 p.m. with visitation immediately following from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Richardson, Texas at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 8th.
