Virginia Lee Gilbraith's Obituary
GALBRAITH, VIRGINIA LEE 87, passed away on Thursday, December 21 in Haskell TX. Virginia was born on December 24, 1918 in Evansville, Indiana. She married Luther “Bill’ Galbraith in October 1935 and moved to Dallas, Texas in 1950. They eventually moved to Garland, Texas were they lived for 30 years. She moved to Haskell in 1996 after the death of her husband. She retired from Gulf Life Insurance Company, but retirement was not her style, so she joined South Garland High School until her second retirement in 1986. Virginia loved the Lord, and as a member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Garland, taught children’s Sunday School for 20 years. She was known for her servant nature and, during her later years, constantly singing hymns. She was delightful to be around and was known for her witty come-backs. She was an outstanding cook and seamstress and loved working outside. She was a devoted wife of 61 years and loving mother. She loved all children, but especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Ann Kelly of Columbia, Tennessee and Betty Lou Roewe and husband Conrad of Haskell; seven grandchildren, Daniel Kruger and wife Marisa, Evergreen, Colorado, David Kruger and wife Jaquedon, Frisco, Texas, Linda Kelly and husband Carl, Columbia, Tennessee, Karen Archer, Frisco, Texas, Randy Roewe and wife Terri, Cleburne, Texas, Julie Goodenough and husband Rob, Summerville, South Carolina, Roger Roewe and wife Jennifer, Haskell, Texas; and 13 great grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Eliza Jennings, her husband Luther, and great grandson Jason Kruger.
