Virginia Fay James' Obituary
Virginia Fay James, 76, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on August 18th, 2014 peacefully in her sleep surrounded by those she loved. Virginia was born in Dallas, Texas on June 30, 1938. She graduated from Crozier Technical High School in Dallas and attended El Centro college where she took courses in accounting and bookkeeping. Virginia was married to Edward T. James in 1969. They were married 26 wonderful years before his passing in 1995. Virginia worked for over 58 years doing what she loved. Even after her retirement she continued to work 4-5 days a week. She stated it kept her mind sharp and gave her something to wake up and look forward to in the morning. Virginia was a loving and devoted Wife, Mother, and Aunt. She was always there to lend an ear when you had a problem no matter how difficult the situation might seem. Her nieces and nephews recalled when she finished talking to you, your spirits were lifted and had a positive outlook about the challenge ahead. She never had a negative thing to say about anyone. Virginia loved all animals and especially her cats and dogs! She loved spending time with family and friends at gatherings during the holidays. She enjoyed playing cards, country dancing, was an amazing baker, and cook. Family members always looked forward to the Christmas Holliday so they could eat her delicious, from scratch, fresh apple cake and baked sausage cheese balls. Virginia also volunteered her time to many charities over the years. She was a dedicated supporter of Veteran’s organizations, The SPCA, Dallas Children’s Advocacy, and Child Fund International where she adopted a little girl. Virginia is survived by her son, Todd A. James, her sister Doris L Hicks, her nieces, nephews; and the rest of her family and friends. Virginia is preceded in death by her husband. Edward T. James, parents, Thomas H. Duncan Sr. and Mattie Lavelle Duncan; as well as her brothers, Thomas Duncan Jr. and Delbert Duncan. Virginia requested a private funeral with her family and close personal friends. Her graveside service will be held at Restland on August 22nd at 10:30 AM. Reverend Ernest Walt will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:30 PM on August 21st, 2014 at Restland in Stateroom 1 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the SPCA of Dallas.
