Virginia Delores Larry's Obituary
On September 24, 1948, Daisy and Daniel Larry were blessed with their firstborn, Virginia Delores Larry. Affectionately known as Lois by her family, she grew up in the close-knit community of Lake Providence, Louisiana. Virginia was an exceptional student, attending Carroll Elementary School and G.W. Griffin High School, where she graduated with honors as the salutatorian of her class.
Virginia pursued higher education at Southern University A&M in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where her academic brilliance continued to shine. While at Southern, she proudly joined Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, a sisterhood that reflected her commitment to scholarship and service. Virginia graduated with honors, earning double majors in Chemistry and Mathematics—a testament to her dedication and intellect.
A woman of faith, Virginia was an active member of Central Baptist #1 Church, where her beautiful voice graced the choir.
In 1974, Virginia embarked on a new chapter in Texas, dedicating herself to shaping young minds as an educator in the Dallas school system. Even after retirement, her passion for teaching endured as she continued to serve in the county system. Virginia's unwavering dedication to her students left a lasting impact, inspiring many to strive for higher education and greater opportunities.
As the eldest sibling, Lois was the family's guiding light. She was a creative and resourceful seamstress, crafting outfits for loved ones, and an avid crocheter who made even the most intricate projects look effortless.
Above all, Virginia was a devoted mother to her beloved son, Jarrod, and a cherished aunt who created lasting memories with her nieces and nephews during their summer visits. Her warmth, kindness, and generous spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew her, leaving a legacy of love and inspiration that will never be forgotten.
Virginia Delores Larry's remarkable journey on this earth is now complete. She was welcomed into eternal rest by her parents, Mr. Isaac Daniel Larry Sr. and Mrs. Daisy Irene Larry; her sisters, Nancy C. Knight and Barbara J. Larry Lucas; and her brothers, Alfred and Charles Larry.
She is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her son, Jarrod Charles Larry; her brother, Isaac D. Larry II; her sister, Merrill Larry Brown; her cousins, Joseph F. Larry and Kedrick Jerome Larry; her nieces, Keisha Walker, Evette Sadler, Shauna Roberson, Lakesha Larry, Tamika Lucas, Tramaine Rogers, Courtney Larry, Tresca Larry, and Leondria Brown; her nephews, Kedrick Wayne Larry, Isaac D. Larry III, and Eric Foster; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family. Her circle of dear friends, including Oma Lee Bishop, Donna Reyes, Sheila King, Markeisha Moody, Paulette Buster, and Martha McSweeney, will also cherish her memory.
Virginia's kindness, talent, and unwavering love for her family and community will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
