Virginia Ray McNeese's Obituary
McNeese, Virginia was born on November 17, 1918 in Itascha, Texas to parents, John Herbert Paynter and Fanny Melissa Tenpenny. She is preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Sale and Mickie Sawyer. Virginia attended Forrest Avenue High School, and as a teenager worked at the Five and Dime, and as an elevator attendant in downtown Dallas. She married her soul mate Everett McNeese II on June 4, 1938. During their 72 years of marriage they rarely spent a day apart, and never argued. They owned two dry cleaners, one on Grand Ave. and the other on McKinney Ave. Virginia never met a stranger and truly enjoyed interacting with others anywhere that she went. She was a very talented seamstress and loved to make clothes and gifts for family and friends. She also had a very green thumb, and would rather sew or do yard work any day over cooking. Virginia was incredibly devoted to caring for her husband Everett during his battle with Alzheimer’s. She was his sole caregiver until he passed in 2011. For the past two years she lived with her son Everett and daughter-in-law Cathy, and brought a lot of joy and love into their home. Virginia was a light to all who knew her and will be sorely missed. Virginia is survived by her three children, Betty Nicely, Linda Page and son-in-law, Jimmy, and Everett McNeese III and daughter-in-law, Cathy; granddaughters, Cindy, Cathy, Lisa, Amy, and Marcy; great grandsons, Tyler and Tanner and sisters, Sandra Franco and Jackie Sawyer. Service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Restland Wildwood Chapel.
