Virginia Brown Nolen's Obituary
NOLEN, VIRGINIA BROWN Died peacefully with her son holding her hand on February 12, 2012 in Dallas at the age of 96. She was born on January 16, 1916 in Lorena, Texas, the only child of Georgia and John Ed Brown. She graduated from Texas Tech University in 1936 with a degree in education and then taught Spanish in both Troy and Fort Worth. She was married to Wilford Allen Nolen and they had one child, Donald Ford Nolen. Virginia loved to cook and entertain at both their Dallas and Hideaway Lake homes. Her passions were playing bridge with her friends and traveling the world. She was a member of the University Park Methodist Church, Northaven Book Club, an original member of Brookhaven Country Club, and past president of the Caladium Garden Club. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her son, Don and his wife Nicole, of Dallas; and numerous cousins throughout Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, February 15th at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held 3:30pm, Thursday, February 16th at Restland Memorial Chapel.
