Virginia "Ginny" Owings Perrine's Obituary
Ginny Perrine passed away peacefully on June 27, 2019, at the age of 88. She was born on September 24, 1930, in Dallas, Texas to Gilbert P. Poindexter and Margaret Ferris Poindexter.Ginny’s Grandmother, Eula McKinney, is a direct descendant of Collin McKinney, for whom the City of McKinney and Collin County are named.Ginny graduated from Highland Park High School in 1947. She attended The University of Texas, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. Shortly thereafter, she married Robert S. Owings on August 24, 1948. Robert “Bob” was an engineer and worked for Texas Instruments in Dallas. Together they had four children and were married for 40 years. Robert passed away in January 1988.On November 3, 1990, Ginny married Sam Perrine. Sam was a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force; where he was a pilot. They met each other while singing together in the choir at First United Methodist Church, Plano, TX. They enjoyed many years singing together and traveling all over the world. They were married for 28 years upon Sam’s passing in November 2017.Ginny had a love for God and was given a beautiful singing voice. Growing up in Dallas, she was a member of Oak Lawn United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir. While raising her family She and Bob became members of Lover’s Lane United Methodist Church of Dallas. Upon moving to Farmer’s Branch, they became members of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. They later moved to Plano, Texas and became members of First United Methodist Church of Plano where she was a 40-year member.She was also a member of the Plano Civic Chorus as well as many folk groups in Plano. She was an expert seamstress, loved to crochet, knit and needlepoint. She played the piano as well as taught piano lessons out of her home. She also had a love for gardening and anything and everything associated with the Arts!Ginny worked for 25 years as the executive secretary for Gagewood Custom Homes in Dallas, Texas.Ginny is preceded in death by her parents, both her husbands, her Sister, Jane Miller, and her beloved Son William Lee Owings.Ginny is survived by her sister: Pat McCord of San Antonio, Tx., her son: Stan Owings (Betty) of Wylie, Tx., her daughters: Becky Garcia (Clem) of Dallas, Tx., Christy Link (Matt) of McKinney, Tx., Stepdaughters: Caprice Alvarado of Plano, Tx., and Laura Cravey (David) of Atlanta, Ga., Grandchildren: Amy Bradley (Ben) of Boca Raton, Fl., Brad Owings of Plano, Tx., Brittany Hausler (Jacob) of McKinney, Tx., Josh Alvarado of Plano, Tx, Madison Link of McKinney, Tx., Great grandsons: Shawn Bradley of Boca Raton, Fl., Carson Bradley of Boca Raton, Fl., Nephew: Jason Byrom (Anna) of San Antonio, Tx.The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Christian Care Senior Community of Allen, Texas.Visitation will be at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, Tx. Friday, July 5, 2019, from 6-8 pm.A Celebration of Life for Ginny will be held at First United Methodist Church, Plano, Texas on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at 2:00 pm with a reception to follow
