Virginia Ruth Schlenker's Obituary
Virginia Ruth Schlenker, 89, of Richardson, Texas passed away April 30, 2020. Services will be live streamed May, 4, 2020 at 10:00 am from the Wildwood Chapel at www.RestlandFuneralHome.com with the Rev. Gerald Ware officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Memorial Park.
Virginia was born May 14, 1930, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Charles and Ruth (Delahoy) Johnston. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City. She continued her education at the University of Kansas and received a bachelors degree in journalism.
She and her husband, Myron, were married July 3, 1955 in Kansas City at the First Baptist Church of Kansas City. They were married for 36 years until his death in 1991.
She and Myron moved to Richardson in 1964 and she lived there until her death. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Richardson. She retired from the Richardson Independent School District.
She is survived by her son, David Schlenker (Lisa) and daughter, Kathy Chavez. Virginia has five grandchildren. Jennifer (Adam) Bonner, Madison Chavez, Taylor Chavez, Jacob Schlenker and Mason Schlenker. She has one great-granddaughter, Emery Rose Bonner.
