Virginia Mary Southerland's Obituary
Southerland, Virginia Mary was born on August 4, 1925 in Los Angeles, CA and passed away on March 23, 2014 in Allen, TX. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Ray Southerland; parents, Vincent Trapani and Mary Ann Webster; sisters, Essie Jean Hogan and Marjorie Pettit of California. Virginia worked for many years in retail. She spent 27 years at Dad & Lads men’s clothing store in Richardson. She was most proud of being manager of the Boy Scout department. For many years she outfitted boys in the North Texas Region when they would come in to get their first uniforms. She always hoped to get to outfit her grandsons which she did and was so proud when her great grandson, Jeven joined Scouts and she saw him in his uniform. No matter where she went in Richardson she always saw someone who knew her and loved her. Virginia is survived by her daughter, Karen Southerland Green and son-in-law, Michael W. Green; grandsons, Justin Arthur Green and wife, Jennifer, and William C. Green; great grandkids, Jeven Green and Isabella Risor Green. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Restland Abbey Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Friends of Scouts.
