Virginia Morgan Travis' Obituary
Virginia “Ginger” Ann Morgan Travis passed away in Dallas, Texas on March 6, 2024, at the age of 94. She was born on October 9, 1929, on Long Island, New York to Alice Marguerite (McIntyre) and Alfred Kenneth Morgan.
Ginger grew up in and around Nyack, New York and graduated from Nyack High School in 1947. She was a graduate of Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York in 1951 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. She then went on to graduate from New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston as a Medical Technologist in 1952 and became a Nationally Registered Medical Technologist. She worked as a medical technologist in hospitals in New Jersey, Arizona and Texas and retired from Doctors Hospital in Dallas, Texas. She was also a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
After moving across the country from New York to Arizona, she met and went on to marry Warren Day Travis on June 17, 1961 in Phoenix, Arizona. They moved to Dallas, Texas for his work in 1963, raised 5 children, took them on many annual road trips and enjoyed cocktail time together every day for the rest of their married life.
Her interests included traveling all over the world, tracing her families’ ancestry as far back as she could (before the internet!) and doing the New York Times crossword puzzle every day. She also found it very enjoyable to research the history of her neighborhood and the surrounding White Rock Lake area of Dallas where they lived for over 60 years.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Warren Day Travis, her five children: Lynn Travis, Houston; Will Travis and wife Nancy, Bethesda, MD; Susan Travis, Dallas; Mary Beth Travis, Dallas; and her most favorite daughter Patti Travis, Austin; three grandchildren, Katherine, John and Michael Travis; her younger sister, Carol Palermo, Newtown Square, PA; and many, many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be private.
