Viveon Holmes' Obituary
REFLECTIONS OF THE LIFE OF VIVEON HOLMES SUNRISE: SEPTEMBER 6, 1920 – SUNSET: AUGUST 23, 2014 Viveon Holmes was born in Seguin, Texas, to the parentage of Andrew Holmes and Estella Holmes. He was the youngest of nine children, five brothers and three sisters. His parents and siblings are deceased. He attended Seguin Public Schools. During World War II, Mr. Holmes dutifully served his country in the United States Army. On March 31, 1940, he was united in marriage to Bernice Blacklock, who preceded him in death. To this union, one daughter, Kim Holmes-Mathis, was born. Viveon confessed Christ at an early age. He was a faithful member of Hamilton Park United Methodist Church for many years. A longtime resident and real pillar of the Hamilton Park community, Mr. Holmes worked as a barber at Graham’s Barbershop, which was located on Forest Lane at that time. Later, he realized a lifetime dream, opening his own business – Holmes Barbershop, Mr. Holmes was a devoted husband, father and grand-father. He leaves to cherish his memories a dedicated daughter, Kim Holmes-Mathis, of Dallas; three grandsons, Ivy Mathis, Kevin Mathis and Jeffery Mathis, also of Dallas; two great grand-chlldren; nephew, Stanley Holmes (Deborah) of Kaufman, TX; cousin, Goldie Sanders of Denver, CO; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 29, 2014 at Hamilton Park United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
