Vivian Thomas "Tom" Kidd Jr's Obituary
KIDD, JR., VIVIAN THOMAS “TOM” was born to Vivian Thomas Kidd, Sr. and Georgia Bell Kidd on February 5, 1939 and passed away on January 18, 2014 at the age of 74. Tom was a 1957 graduate of W.W. Samuell High School and served with the 49th Armored Division of the U.S. Army and the National Guard during the Cuban Crisis. He was employed by Kroger Grocers and W.L Gordon Food Brokers. Tom met the love of his life, Donna Phifer McGee, on a blind date in 1974 and they were married a year later. Tom and Donna enjoyed their world travels (especially Europe) and spending time with family. Tom was an avid golfer and after retirement enjoyed many hours playing with his long-time friends. Tom was a 32nd Degree Mason and received his 50 year pin last year. Tom was preceded in death by his mother, father and step-father Bruce Baker. Tom lost Donna, his loving wife of 38 years, just four months ago. Tom is survived by children; Vivian Perez (Louie), Kevin Kidd (Sherice), Ryan McGee (Ellen), his four grandchildren; Lindsay (Justin), Adam (Alysa), Austin and Nicholas and four great grandchildren; Grayson, Annie, Jake and Brayden. He is also survived by two brothers, Walter Alan (Pete) Baker and David Arthur Baker, one sister, Beverlee Baker Witty, as well as the mother of his children, Rogann Holcomb Wray and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation for friends and family will be on Sunday, January 26, 2014 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas. The service will be held on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 12:30 PM at Restland Wildwood Chapel with Dr. Thomas G. Wilbanks of the First Presbyterian Church of Mesquite officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice or one of Tom’s favorites: The Scottish Rite Hospital for Children; St. Jude Hospital for Children; American Cancer Society or the ASPCA.
