Vivian Vernell Jackson Locker's Obituary
Vivian Vernell Jackson Locker was a 92-year-old female from Dawson, TX. She died on July 2, 2017, at home. She was born in Iredell, TX to William Victor and Mary Elizabeth Jackson on 01/30/1925 with her twin brother(William Victor Jackson Jr). Vivian and W. J. Locker were married in Meridian, TX on March 23, 1945. Vivian was a farm wife and mother for most of her life. She raised chickens and always had a bountiful vegetable and flower garden that she loved. Other jobs she had included Montgomery Ward, Braum’s Manager, School Cafeteria and later Custodian in Grand Prairie schools. She served as Boy Scout leader for her son. Vivian is survived by daughters, Linda Raether of Dawson, TX and Barbara and Dave Mock of Grand Prairie, TX. Vivian had 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 5 great grand children. Vivian is preceded in death by spouse, Oscar W. J. Locker, daughter, Elizabeth Ann Reid and son, Oscar W. J. Locker, Jr. She is also preceded in death by her ten siblings. Vivian was the glue that held her family together. She always said she wanted to live long enough to see her children happy with families of their own. She worked hard her whole life. As a school age girl, she said she and her siblings always missed the first two weeks to pick cotton. Vivian stressed education to her four children. She loved her family devotedly and will be sadly missed. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 3:00 PM in The Court of Compassion at Restland Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
