Vonnie Byrne's Obituary
Vonnie Byrne, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2015 Vonnie was an active community volunteer, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a friend to many. She will be dearly missed by all. Vonnie was born in Abilene, Texas. She was preceded in death by her loving, husband James E. Byrne and granddaughter Stephanie Byrne. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She is survived by her children Jim Byrne Jr. and wife Ruth of Richardson, Texas, Barbara Holladay and husband Pat of Allen, Texas, Mike Byrne and wife Terri of Lubbock, Texas, Richard Byrne and wife Nancy of Irving, Texas, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A graduate Of McMurry University, Abilene, Texas, where she enjoyed being a member of the T.I.P. Social Club. She also served as President of the Assistance League of Dallas, and was a founding member of East Dallas Exchangettes. Vonnie was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas as well as the D.A.R. She was also an active member of several book clubs, bridge clubs and a garden club. She was a long time member of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, where she was part of the prayer call team. Her service will take place on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, 9800 Preston Rd, Dallas, TX 75230. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McMurry University, American Cancer Society or the Assistance League of Dallas.
