Wallace Flippen Burbridge's Obituary
Having lived a long and full life, Wallace F. Burbridge was called by the Lord to his eternal home
on Friday, July 2, 2021, at the age of 86. Wally was known for his quick wit and loving heart and
will be deeply missed by many. He is survived by his wife Patricia, daughters Julie Tanner and
Ellen Comer, sons-in-law Scott Tanner, Tim Comer and Don Owen, and sister Dorothy Ann
Llewellyn. He was a devoted and beloved “Poppie” to his grandchildren Brian and Colin Tanner,
Grace and Nathan Comer, and Adele Owen. He is preceded in death by daughter Kay Owen.
Wally was born in El Paso, TX on October 15, 1934. After serving in the US Navy as a pilot
from 1955 to 1963, Wally went on to earn his BBA from Southern Methodist University and
made his career in aviation insurance. His deep affection for the Navy and for flying led him to
volunteer as a docent at the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas for many years. While Wally
may be absent from this earth, he will never be absent from our hearts. A service celebrating
his life will be held Thursday, July 15th at 3:00 pm at The Heights Church chapel, 201 W.
Renner Rd., Richardson, TX 75080. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the
Frontiers of Flight Museum, The Heights Church, Easter Seals or any veterans’ services.
