Wallace Reid Currin's Obituary
Currin, Wallace Reid Reid Currin, 81, passed away on April 9, 2012, with his family by his side, at his home in Dallas, Texas. He was born to Mary Ruth and John Norvel Currin on October 9, 1930 in Goose, Texas. He attended Crozier Tech High School in Dallas, Texas and received his diploma in 1948. Reid was a loyal and dedicated employee and retired in 1992 after 32 years of employment from The National Biscuit Company. He was strong in his faith and devoted to his family. Reid and his beloved wife, Barbara “Bo”, were married for 46 years and were blessed with six children. He is survived by Toni Halliburton (Tommy), Clark Hickock (Mary Lou), Chere Hickock (Jennifer Judin), Brent Hickock (Teresa), Marci Elkins (Steve), Shayne Currin (Denise), 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Reid was welcomed home by his parents and his grandson, George Thomas Halliburton, IV, who preceded him in death. A good and faithful servant, Reid was a member of Casa View Baptist Church for over 50 years and was a member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church at the time of his passing. Reid was an avid golfer and was a long-time member of Van Zandt Country Club. He was also very passionate about sports, baseball specifically, and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play throughout the years. He was a loyal friend and did not know a stranger. He would strike up a conversation with anyone and gave everyone he knew a nickname. People were drawn to his witty, charming personality and he will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. The family is forever grateful to Mary Lou Hickock for her loving care and time given to Daddy Reid/PaPa during his illness. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 15, 2012 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas, 75243. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church, 9810 La Prada, Dallas, Texas, 75228. Services will be officiated by Dr. Craig Christina and Pastor Steve Elkins. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church Missions Fund.
