Wallace Grundeman's Obituary
Wally passed away peacefully on June 1, 2011 after a hard fought battle with pneumonia. Wally was born on Oct 19, 1928 in Holton Kansas to Ed and Laura Grundeman. He grew up in Kansas served in the military, and graduated from the University of Kansas. He was married to Evelyn Grundeman for 42 years and after moving from Kansas City, they made their life together in Dallas, Texas. They were life long members of the North Dallas Supper Club, active members of King of Glory Lutheran church and enjoyed entertaining friends at their home. Wally retired as a partner from Ernest and Young in 1986 after dedicating his entire career to the firm. He has many life long friends from E&Y that he loved to reminisce with. He retired “as soon as I could” from E&Y and he and Evelyn enjoyed an active retirement filled with travel and new adventures, living in Sun City West during the winter and San Louis Obispo, California during the summer. Eventually their grandchildren, Kelsey, Connor and Kaitlyn brought them back to Dallas. “Papa” was famous for playing with his grandchildren, getting them to eat strange and exotic foods, and spoiling them rotten. Following the death of Evelyn, Wally became active in the “WPS” Widowed Persons Service and there he met, Sandra Courie. They were married in 2005 and were two of the happiest newlyweds in town. They both hoped for 10 years together and Wally was heartbroken when she passed away in July of 2008. His grandson, Connor, his wife Evelyn and wife Sandra, preceded Wally in death. He is survived by his Daughter, Pam Blankenship, Grandchildren, Kelsey and Kaitlyn, Brothers and Sisters-in Law Fred and Jan Grundeman, and Arnold and Sandy Grundeman, Step-daughter Diane Carleton, Step-son Eli Courie, Step-son-in-law Bruce, and Step-daughter-in-law Sherri.
