I will always remember the Berndt family Christmas Eve’s Lunches and the Saturday nights when Uncle Walter, Aunt Lou, and Edwin would come over to our house to visit his grandmother, Lillie Berndt. We were about 10 years old; Ed and I would play around the farm house.

Lauren, I was so very sad to hear of W.E.’s untimely passing. I adored your dad even our life paths had diverged long ago. But he will always live in my hearts and memories, as we shared many good times and laughter back when you were just a tyke. In fact, on certain occasions, “Aunt Susan” and I still quote from W.E.’s catalogue of memorable witticisms, imitating his unique voice and accompanying hand gestures.
