Walter Dell Lanier's Obituary
Dell Lanier peacefully passed into the arms of our Lord on Dec 11 at 11:56 pm at a local hospital in Dallas, TX. Dell was born in Birmingham, AL to George and Golda Lanier who preceded him in death along with a brother George H. Lanier Jr. Dell is survived by his children James (Stefanie) and Stephanie Lanier.
Grandchildren: Scott, Tyler, Aaron, Kaiden, Jase and Colton.
Great grandchildren:
Theo, Ruth and Opal.
Dell’s sister: Renea (Ken) Taylor and their daughter Emily (Garrett) Whipple.
Great nephew’s: Landon and Indiana.
Dell grew up racing quarter midgets in the Irondale, AL Quarter Midget Club. He also had a love for auto racing, building slot cars for racing and building RC cars for racing in recent years. As a teenager he worked for racing legend Red Farmer at his slot car track in Bessemer, AL and also at the Eastwood Mall slot car track.
In 1969 Dell started working for Texas Instruments and later for Raytheon as an electrical engineer. He traveled around the globe training American troops how to repair their vital equipment in various environments. One of his best tips was to carry duct tape.
Memorial service will be scheduled for a later date at Upper Room Baptist Church in Irondale, AL. In lieu of flowers please make donations to:
