Dear Mrs. McGowan and extended family, I am so sorry that I was unable to attend your husband's memorial service Friday, 12/2/15, at Restland Funeral Home. It was good that I had a chance to see both of you again at our reunion this past summer. In all the 14 years that I was a member of the 362nd Civil Affairs unit and came to know Colonel McGowan, I always had the utmost respect for him both as my unit commander and as a warm and honorable man.
