Walter J. Newman, 99, passed away March 17, 2025.
He was born February 22, 1926, in Palestine, Texas to parents Walter J. Newman Sr. and Mertie Crawford Newman. He is survived by a daughter, Melissa Blume of McKinney, Texas; a Grandson, Otis James Johnson Ill of Round Rock, Texas; Great Grandson Otis James Johnson IV (Ivey), Great Granddaughter Isla Grace Johnson, Both of Round Rock, Texas; a Niece, Leanne Petty of Palestine, Texas; Step Granddaughter
Jennifer Wycoff of Fairview, Texas; Step Grandson Brian Blume and wife Jody of Cibolo, Texas; Step Grandson Jeff Blume and wife Amy of
Taylor, Texas; Great Grandchildren Caleb, Seth, Kynslee, Kason, Kyron, Jesse and husband Angel, James, Joey, Josh, Timothy, and Abigail; Great- Great Grandson Samuel
After serving in the Navy during World War II, Mr. Newman attended Texas A. and M. University and graduated with a degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1953 and enjoyed a career in the Petroleum Industry for some 38 years.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in McKinney, serving as an Elder, Treasurer and Sunday School teacher.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Betty Wagnon Newman, his sister, Bonnie Newman Petty, brother-in-law Robert Wagnon and his Son-in-law, Ronald W. Blume.
A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church in McKinney, Texas on March 28, at 11:00. There will be a visitation at the church from 10-11:00.
