Dr. Walter Braden Speer's Obituary
Dr. Walter Braden Speer, known affectionately as Braden to those close to him, passed away on January 3rd, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and excellence in the field of endodontics. Born on November 13, 1933, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Andrew Beacom Speer and Cora Speer (Garner), Dr. Speer's journey was marked by his unwavering commitment to his profession and his community.
Dr. Speer began his academic journey at Wooton College before transferring to the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned his dental degree. His passion for endodontics led him to Indiana University, where he achieved his Endodontic degree, setting the stage for a distinguished career.
Dr. Speer was a celebrated endodontist, practicing in his North Dallas office, where he provided exceptional care to his patients. His expertise and practiced approach earned him the respect and admiration of both his peers and those he treated. He was an active member of multiple professional organizations, contributing to the advancement of his field and staying at the forefront of dental innovations.
Braden's dedication extended beyond his professional life. He was a loving family man, a cherished friend, and a mentor to many. His warmth, kindness, and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him.
He is remembered dearly by his wife, Shirley L. Speer; his two daughters, Susan L. Bardreau (and fiancé, Bret Hennington) and Sondra L. Speer (and fiancé, Eric Myers); two grandchildren, Brittany Luttrell, and Blake Ricci (and spouse, Caitlin); and 5 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Luttrell, Aiden Luttrell, Beckham Ricci, Levi Ricci, and Reagan Ricci.
Dr. Walter Braden Speer leaves behind a legacy of excellence, compassion, and dedication. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and the countless patients whose lives he impacted. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Services in honor of Dr. Speer will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January the 8th, at Restland Funeral Home's Wildwood Chapel.
