Walter D. Wallace's Obituary
WALLACE, WALTER D born June 21, 1917 in Danville, IL and passed away Novemebr 10, 2010 in Plano, TX. Honorable Discharge from US Army April 10, 1946 as a 1st Sergeant of the 740th Ordinance Light Maintenance Company. He was awarded World War II Victory Medal, American Campaining Medal, Phillippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star and the Asiatic Campaining Medal. He worked for National Life and Accident Insurance company from 1949-1975 in Long Beach, CA, Dalals, TX and Lufkin, TX and was a coach teacher and mentor to much of the Insurance community of North Texas. Also was a Deacon and Elder at Greenville Avenue Christian Church of Dallas and First Christian of Lufkin, TX. He was also an avid golfer with three holes-in-one and a 32nd Degree Mason at A.C. Garrett Lodge. He is survived by his children, JoAnn Dunaway and husband, Ray, Janine McElyea and husband, Charlie; grandchildren, Dana Groden and husband, Chris, Brian Fitzgerald and wife, Laura and Christopher Stonestreet; great grandchildren: Tara Groden, Anna Groden, Kellen Fitzgerald and Clarissa Fitzgerald; half brother, Charles Wallace and wife, Max Anne of Florida; several nephews and nieces.
