Wanda Merrill Alford's Obituary
ALFORD, WANDA M. Born September 6, 1921 in Dallas County, Texas and passed away January 11, 2014 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph C. Elerson and mother, Della M. Elerson; her husband, W. Howard Alford; and her brothers, Alton Elerson and Thomas Elerson. Wanda is survived by her son, Hershal Gene Ground and wife, Edna; daughter, Regina Harrell; brothers, JC Elerson and Arvis Elerson and wife, Wanda; sister, Norma Palmer; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Wanda had a very full life. Her hobbies included playing bridge, shopping, traveling, watching sports, cooking and gardening. She earned the title of Bridge Life Master and never turned down an opportunity to play the game. She spent many years as the bridge director on various cruise ships and visited 5 of the 7 continents. She lived in Puerto Rico for ten years with her late husband. When she wasn’t traveling or playing bridge, she would buy sick plants and nurse them back to health or watch sporting events on television. She was a big Dallas Cowboy fan! Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 12:30PM at Restland Wildwood Chapel.
