Wanda Fanning Keesee's Obituary
Wanda Fanning Keesee passed away on March 19, 2017 in Richardson, Texas. Wanda was born to Winifred and Tulley Fanning in Carnegie, Oklahoma June 9, 1921. She lived most of her school days in Frederick, Oklahoma graduated in 1939 and then received her associate degree from Tillman County College. After being sweethearts since the sixth grade, Wanda and Harold were married in 1944 and had three children. This wonderful marriage lasted 68 years. Wanda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She became an active member of the Christian Church and was baptized at the age of nine. After joining Monica Park Christian Church in 1958, she held many leadership roles throughout the years. She taught the Tinkering Tots 15 years, was president of the Christian Women’s Fellowship and held other CWF positions. Monica Park called her to be the first woman to serve as Chairman of the Board and later the first woman to serve as Elder. In 2007, she was presented with the Elder Emeritus award. She was also very proud to have started the Red Beans Luncheon at Monica Park which is still going strong. Her mom taught her to do for others, and she has done that her entire life. Whether she was taking food to someone, driving cancer patients for treatment, delivering meals on wheels, or just having a kind word to say, she always put others first. Wanda had a broad scope of interests including travel, bridge, knitting, needlepoint, and cooking. To Wanda, everyday was a beautiful day. What a blessing she was to so many. She is survived by children, Dianne Williams and husband, John of Bedford, Sandra Holcombe and husband, Gary of Garland and Craig Keesee and wife, Kathy of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Lilly Olson and husband, Kory, Glen Meloy and Becky, Brooke McWhorter and husband, Brian, Neil Keesee and wife, Abby and five great-grandchildren, Jace Thomasson, Shyann and Brady Olson, Campbell and Reid McWhorter and nieces and nephews. The service for Wanda Keesee will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Monica Park Christian Church, Garland, TX with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Monica Park Christian Church or charity of your choice.
