Wanda Kay Knepper's Obituary
Wanda Kay Knepper passed away peacefully with her family by her side June 19, 2019 after a valiant battle with cancer. Her devotion to her family, firm belief in God and amazing walk of faith supported her and ultimately gave her peace.Wanda was born September 28, 1943 in Abilene, Texas to Carl and Lorene Smith. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1962 and continued her education to become a Radiologic Technologist. She worked at a private radiology clinic in Washington DC for 3 years and continued her career at Richardson Medical Center until 1995.Wanda married David Knepper on February 6, 1965. Shortly after, the couple moved to Washington DC., where they stayed for 3 years before returning to Dallas, Texas to raise their two children.Wanda was a caretaker at heart. She was kind and soft-spoken, and always had a welcoming smile and made time to encourage others. Wanda enjoyed gardening and decorating and making every occasion special. She loved history and joined the Richardson Historical society where she acted as secretary for many years. She treasured her family at First United Methodist Church in Richardson where she volunteered with the Caring Ministries. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate that she is at peace with her creator.Wanda is survived by her husband, David; her daughter and son-in-law Debra & Frank Cortese; her son and daughter-in-law Steve and Mariana Knepper; and her 3 grand-dogs. She is preceded in death by her parents.Visitation will be held Tuesday July 2, 2019 6:00-8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Wanda will be buried in a private family ceremony at Restland Cemetery with a memorial service to follow Wednesday July 3, 2019 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church Richardson where all are welcome.The family would especially like to thank Dr. Bijal Modi who gave exceptional loving care to Wanda for 11 years along with the staff of Presbyterian Hospital, Texas Oncology and MD Anderson Cancer Center for their constant & attentive treatment.
