Wanda Jean Mooney's Obituary
Mooney, Wanda Jean, died peacefully surrounded by her children on October 24, 2015. She was born on December 14, 1933 in Atoka, Oklahoma to Charley and Evie Laura Rice. Jean later joined her 5 sisters in Dallas where she obtained her cosmetology license and worked as a beautician. She began working at Red Ball Motor Freight where she met the love of her life and was married for 58 years to Thomas H. (Sonny) Mooney. She is survived by her three children, Tom H. Mooney, Jr. Steven Charles Mooney, and Laura Leigh Mooney, as well as many nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her 5 sisters, Gladys Keith Thompson, Roxie Whitener, Patsy Athas, Rusty Kennedy, Ruby Rettig Brewer and her beloved nephew, Larry Eugene Rettig. Being the youngest she was lovingly referred to as Jeanie Babe. She loved to play Bingo, Video Poker, laugh and have fun. Her greatest love was her 2 Grandchildren, Skylar Blue West and Rachael Dotson. She spent many hours playing with them and spoiling them. Jean loved her family and was a wonderful cook and enjoyed baking the best desserts. She also was a very good bowler and enjoyed fishing. She will now be with all her sisters, her mother and her husband. Jean was a pillar of strength for those who loved her and she will truly be missed. Jean loved life, traveled extensive with her husband and children and was embraced by many friends. She left us with so many wonderful memories. We will cherish these memories forever. A Viewing for Wanda Mooney will be held at Restland Funeral Home on October 27, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The services for Wanda will be at The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home on October 28, 2015 at 3:00 PM. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243 at Restland Road
