Mrs. Wanda Ann Neal's Obituary
Ann Turner Neal, beloved wife, mother, Mema, sister, and friend, passed away on June 3, 2024 at age 89. While she will be greatly missed, we celebrate the blessing of her life and the joy of her heavenly homecoming. Her love for the Lord, devotion to her family, and gift for hospitality were a bright light in this world.
Ann was born in Whitehall, Texas, on March 30, 1935. At age 14, she met the love of her life, Brooks Neal, at a movie theater in Dallas, where he worked as manager and she was the candy girl. With that sweet introduction, they began 61 years of marriage on December 27, 1951, and were soon blessed with three daughters, Marcia, Kathey, and Laura. Ever attentive to her priorities as wife, mother, and homemaker, Ann also found time to employ her artful eye and poise as a model, charm school teacher, fashion coordinator, and interior decorator. Her greatest joy, however, came from serving others, and her thoughtfulness and attention to detail made her an incomparable hostess. Ann loved to spend quality time with family and friends and was always intentional about sharing her faith, love, and wise counsel with whomever God put in her path. One of her favorite ministries was Friendspeak, where she shared the Gospel while teaching English to young adults from China. She was a true beauty, confident in her Savior, and radiating love, faith, and strength because of His grace.
Ann was preceded in death by her best friend and husband, Brooks, and is survived by her sister, LaNell Booth, three daughters, two sons-in-law, seven grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. Over the course of her life, Ann also acquired an extensive faith family, and, while we grieve her loss, we all look forward to our heavenly reunion!
The family will relate details for the burial of her ashes in Dallas as soon as they are determined. If you would like to honor her memory, please feel free to make a donation in her name to the charity of your choice.
"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." Ephesians 2:8
