Wanda Carolyn Parsons' Obituary
‘Billy’ Parsons of Dallas, Texas, died peacefully surrounded by family and friends January 24, 2015, after a brief illness. She was 89. Daughter of Wanda Wible Swope and Roger Hunt Swope, she was born and grew up in Lexington, Kentucky. She graduated from Henry Clay High School and attended Ward-Belmont College. She then transferred to the University of Tennessee where she met her future husband Larry Jim Parsons (deceased). She was always up for trying new experiences, from traveling the world, sampling the newest cuisine, and moving to South America to support her husband’s career. She devoted herself to her children, a menagerie of pets, and her home. She had a close group of friends that played bridge regularly for more than 40 years. She is survived by her daughter Priscilla Sample of Dallas and grandson Thomas Mattson Sample, fiancée Natasha Kiani and daughter Sophia Kiani; her daughter Laura Lee Parsons of Los Angeles and her granddaughter Jessica Shelhamer Garner, husband James Robert Garner and great-grandchildren Lauren and Jasper Garner of Keller, TX; and daughter Juliette Hunt Parsons of Dallas. She is also survived by her sisters Carol Jean Reeves of Durham, NC; Jonni Walls of Dallas, TX; Annie Swope Farrar of Douglas, GA; and in-laws Jack and Betty Parsons of High Point, NC. While there are too many to mention individually, the family would like to express their deep appreciation to the caregivers and staff of Caruth Haven Court, Walnut Place, and Presbyterian Hospital for the care and love they have given these past years. Billy supported a host of charitable organizations. Among her favorites were the American Cancer Society, the SPCA of Dallas, and Saint Jude Hospital. A memorial service will be at 03:00 PM on Saturday, January 31, 2015 in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
