Wanda Virginia Pospahala's Obituary
Wanda McDonald Pospahala Lt. Col (Ret) USAF passed away on 08/17/20 at age 94 in Dallas. Her husband of 42 years, John E. Pospahala, preceded her in death. She was a 1948 graduate of Charlotte (NC) Memorial School of Nursing. After her retirement from Baylor Hospital in 1983 she had more time to devote to her varied interests. She loved working in her yard and that of her church, Ridgeview Presbyterian, in Farmers Branch. Many beautiful needlework projects were lovingly stitched for others and she enjoyed stitching with friends as a part of the Dallas Needlework and Textile Guild. Much of her time was spent volunteering with various organizations such as the Visiting Nurses Hospice Program and Meals on Wheels and was also a supporter of Heifer Project International. She was a member of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church and the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Her parents, sister Esther (Dodie) Hummell and grandson James preceded her in death. She is survived by her sisters Harriett Pittman of Colorado Springs, CO, Patricia Riggsbee of Chapel Hill, NC and numerous nieces and nephews. Other survivors include her stepdaughter Lisa (Bruce) Ford, granddaughter Laura (Gabriel) Wilkerson and two great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
