Wanda Claire Urban's Obituary
Born September 7th in Waco, TX to Edwin and Ena McCulloh, passed away on May 22nd at the age of 83. She graduated Salutatorian from Sunset High School in Dallas and received a Bachelor of Science degree with distinction from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth in 1945. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 36 years, Richard Lee Urban, and her sister Dorothy Walsh. She is survived by her sister, Carol Copeland of Dallas, TX, three children, Diane LeFan of Plano, TX, Richard Lee Urban and wife, Judy of Boerne, TX, Jeanine Corbett and husband, Kelly, of Florham Park, NJ and six grandchildren, Scott Andrew Crane and wife, Jennifer, of Garland, TX, Richard Jeffery Crane of Dallas, TX, Joey Kelly Corbett of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Richard Patrick Corbett of Fort Collins, CO, Casey Campbell Urban of Boerne, TX and Hayley Kay Corbett of Florham Park, NJ. Wanda’s love of travel took her to American Airlines where she flew DC3s as a stewardess until she married in 1948. She was an active member of University Park United Methodist Church for many years spending most of her time in the Children’s division. Her volunteer activities also included the Preston Hollow PTA, Campfire Girls and serving meals at homeless shelters. She resumed her career at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas and St. Barnibus Hospital in Livingston, NJ as a medical technologist and teacher of hematology. She was an avid reader, bridge player, enjoyed countless travels around the world, participated in many activities through the Highlands North Homeowners Association and loved working crossword puzzles daily. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 27th at 11:00 am at University Park United Methodist Church located at 4024 Caruth Boulevard in Dallas, TX with a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the University Park Methodist Church foundation in her memory.
