Warren Hunter's Obituary
HUNTER, WARREN BENJAMIN, 84 Beloved husband, father and friend to many, passed away Saturday February 24, 2007. He was born October 25, 1922 in Dorchester, Texas to John Benjamin (Jake) Hunter and Mary Jane (Toots) Hunter. His brother Bruce Ward Hunter, sister Ruth Ann Lively, and daughter Mary Ann Hunter precede him in death. Warren will always be remembered for his warm smile, outstanding voice and kind heart. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Mary Joe Brown. Together they had 9 wonderful children. Daughters Mary Ann (deceased), Nan Elizabeth, Janet Warren, Ruth Heather and Margaret Louise. Sons John Benjamin, Joe Thomas, Robert Bruce and Donald Edward. He was very proud of and loved his 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He served in the Navy during WWII. After his return he graduated with a major in English from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. He was a 32nd degree Mason of Washington Lodge 1117. He belonged to the Shriner’s and York Rite Fraternities. He was also an elder in the Presbyterian Church. He retired from Flintkote Building Materials, after 25 years of service, where he was the top producing salesman. Warren excelled in sports, especially football and baseball at Austin College. He had a great love for the outdoors, hunting and fishing in particular, which led to many memorable times with family and friends. The family extends a special thank you to Golden Acres Retirement Facility and the Levy Wing for their loving care of “Papa” the last 5 years. Visitation will be Friday March 2, 2007, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday March 3, 2007 at the Wildwood Chapel, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243.
