Waymon G. Wallace's Obituary
Waymon Guine Wallace was born to Alex Mack Wallace Jr. and Fannie Beatrice Lee on September 27, 1955, in Fort Worth, Texas. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Community Missionary Baptist Church by the late Pastor Homer Williams.
In his early years, Waymon attended schools in Fort Worth, Texas. After graduating from Trimble Technical High School, Waymon went on to study at Job Corps, where he learned carpentry and to drive the big rigs. Waymon worked as a carpenter and long-haul driver for many years, this is where he earned his name “Waco.”
Waymon never met a stranger, any and everywhere he went, he met new friends. At times when Waymon was not working, though rare, he would spend time shooting pool with family and friends, spreading laughter through his witty jokes, and driving around town to see and spend time with loved ones. Somethings Waymon will forever be remembered for are his charismatic charm, the care and compassion he showed towards others, and the love he had for his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Waymon fought lung cancer for 17 long months. He outlived what the hospice team originally gave him for his expectancy, proving his strong will and determination. As Waymon proved throughout his life, he was a strong warrior. He continued to push through and fight every day, still caring for his mother during her times of need, as well as caring for everyone else around him. On November 7, 2023, Waymon died at his home with his mother at his side.
Waymon is preceded in death by his father Alex Mack Wallace Jr., stepfather Lovell Lee, and sister Floyceolene Lee. Waymon leaves to cherish his memory; mother, Fannie B. Lee of Fort Worth, TX; brothers Alex (Young Suk) Wallace of Kent, WA, Richard Wallace of Fort Worth, TX; sisters Carolyn Russell and Debbie McGee, both of Fort Worth, TX. In addition, left to cherish his memory are his children; Waymon Smith and Alex Wallace, both of Fort Worth, TX as well as Alexis Wallace-Holman and Richard Wallace, both of Tacoma, WA. Waymon also leaves 6 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends, to cherish his memory.
