Wayne Lewis Musgrave's Obituary
On February 11, 2025, Wayne Musgrave went home unexpectedly to the Lord at age 88. He spent his final days at home, where he loved to be and felt closest to our Lord and to his beloved Jackie. Wayne was born in Terrell, Texas and was a lifetime resident of the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Lifelong companions, soulmates, and sweethearts, Wayne and Jackie Musgrave were married for 65 wonderful and precious years. Wayne was a passionate and faithful child of God who lived a life rich in love, compassion, and wisdom, leaving a lasting legacy that will continue to touch the hearts of all who encountered and knew him. Wayne was undoubtedly intelligent, witty, charming, hilarious, warm, loving, genuine, caring, and he loved his family more than anyone could imagine. Wayne was a successful businessman and visionary who built his career on hard work, integrity, and unwavering commitment to excellence. While working for Campbell Taggart, he became president of Manor Bread and was later made president of El Chico. Years later, he co-owned Bartush-Schnitzius Foods Company. Wayne was also on the Board of Directors and sang for the Silver Serenaders, and he and Jackie spent countless hours rehearsing and performing for various groups of individuals who loved music. Wayne and Jackie also spent limitless hours working hard for Operation Care to bring the joy of Christmas to those in need. Among many other things, Wayne always enjoyed playing his steel guitar, playing cards, taking care of their farm, and keeping busy with whatever Jackie had him doing, especially when it meant working alongside his son, Wayne Lewis.
Each day, Wayne lived life to its fullest, despite complications and setbacks. Wayne walked step-by-step with the Lord in life, and now he walks hand-in-hand with the Lord in Heaven and with his sweetheart, Jackie. He was a one-of-a-kind man, known as “Papa” to his granddaughter, and he will forever be remembered as a “Priceless Man,” which is the title of the song Jackie wrote for him.
Wayne was preceded in death by wife, Jackie Musgrave; daughter, Janet Kay Musgrave; father and mother, Emmitt and Virtna Musgrave; brothers-in-law, Johnny Owen and Floyd Simpson.
Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Mary Musgrave; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Amanda and Anthony Fontana; great-grandson and great-granddaughter, Anthony and Ainsley Fontana; sisters Wanda Simpson and Doris Owen; cousins, AC (like a brother) and Mary Musgrave; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and Bob Crawford; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
