Weldon Neale Drennon's Obituary
DRENNON, WELDON NEALE PETE completed his journey to take his place in the heavenly realm on January 22, 2014. What most will associate with Pete is his service to others. After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1953, he served in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of First Lieutenant. That same year he married Peggy Jean Herring, his bride of 60 years. Known as Pete & Peg they were seldom referred to individually. Generously serving family, friends, church, and community without needing recognition they became models of selflessness for three generations of family. Raised in Waco Texas, Pete moved his family to California, Florida, West Texas, New Mexico and eventually back to the DFW region. Pete worked for the majority of his life in service with the US Housing and Urban Development (HUD). In retirement he enjoyed golf, breakfast with buddies, keeping up with his grandchildren, working with the local food bank, helping Homes for Humanities, and as an avid wood worker, building furniture and crafts. A celebration of Pete’s life will be held in the church where he served as an active member after moving to the mid-cities, and where many friendships most dear to him were formed. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 2:00 PM First United Methodist Church 521 W. Pipeline Rd., Hurst, TX 76053. Pete’s children Michael, Patrick, and Cynthia (Bell), along with their extended families, request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice in tribute to Pete’s service to others.
